Over 186,000 couples got married in Ukraine in 2023, whereas over 24,000 got divorced.

That's according to the Ukrainian Justice Ministry, Ukrinform reports.

"Some 186,051 marriages were registered in 2023," the statement said.

The ministry said the largest number of newly created families were recorded in the city of Kyiv (21,802), Dnipropetrovsk region (18,816), Odesa region (13,740), Kyiv region (11,712), Lviv region (10,983) and Kharkiv region (10,977).

At the same time, 24,108 couples decided to end their relationship.

Earlier reports said that the Ukrainian Justice Ministry had simplified the registration of marriage under martial law: now it takes just one day.

In February 2023, the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine launched a new service on the Diia government services portal, allowing Ukrainians to apply for marriage registration.
