Occupation administration of Yalta destroys city's historical and cultural heritage – National Resistance Center

The occupation authorities in Yalta are dismantling the city's historical and cultural legacy, replacing protected areas and architectural landmarks with closed hotel complexes for Russian elites.

According to Ukrinform, the National Resistance Center stated this on Telegram.

"Under the leadership of Yanina Pavlenko, a proxy of Aksyonov, the systematic elimination of historical and cultural heritage continues in occupied Crimea. Instead of protected zones and architectural monuments, closed hotel complexes for Russian elites are being built," the statement said.

It is noted that the occupiers have allocated a land plot on Polikurovsky Hill for development, which is located in a water protection zone of the Black Sea. In addition, there is a threat to the "White Dacha": drilling work has been permitted near Chekhov's house-museum on a landslide-prone slope, putting the integrity of the cultural heritage site at risk.

It is also reported that in May 2022, a mansion belonging to prominent architect Mykola Krasnov in Yalta was demolished even before the process of granting it protected status had been completed.

Earlier, Ukrinform reported that a building of cultural and historical heritage in Yalta had become a shelter for homeless people.
