The Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration is preparing to reduce its staff by 22% due to a budget deficit.

This was stated in an interview with Ukrinform by Head of the administration Vitalii Kim.

“The state allocated us slightly more funds than last year, but salary increases for public sector employees have led to a budget deficit both at the regional level and in almost all local communities. We now have to cut the administration’s staff by 22%. There are no surplus employees, so we will have to make painful cuts and reduce bonuses,” Kim said.

According to him, this is a very difficult year, with funding shortages across the board. Communities are spending nearly all available funds on recovery efforts and support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, leaving them with virtually no development budgets.

“Western and central regions are in a somewhat better position, as businesses have relocated there and are showing economic growth,” he added.

As reported, the Mykolaiv City Council has appealed to parliament and the government to provide subsidies to cover the community’s budget deficit.
