Police increase number of patrols amid energy emergency
As reported by Ukrinform, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine announced this on Telegram.
“Under the conditions of an energy emergency, police are operating in an intensified mode. In particular, the number of patrols on duty has been increased, including at night,” the statement said.
The main tasks of police officers are to maintain public order, prevent theft and other offenses, and avert threats to people and critical infrastructure facilities. Police also alert the public about air-raid warnings in cases where stationary warning systems are not functioning due to prolonged power outages.
“At the same time, we urge citizens not to go outside at night unless absolutely necessary and to always carry identification documents,” the Interior Ministry said.
The Ministry also reminded that photographing or filming the operation of air defense systems, critical infrastructure facilities, military sites, as well as other locations important for security, is strictly prohibited.
“Espionage, collaboration, aiding the aggressor state, as well as photographing or filming and unauthorized dissemination of information about the movement of servicemen, weapons, and equipment may be punishable by imprisonment for a term of three to fifteen years, depending on the legal classification under the Criminal Code of Ukraine,” the Ministry emphasized.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, flexible curfew rules are being introduced in Ukraine for the period of the energy emergency. Kyiv will be the first city to adopt the corresponding decision.
