Salaries for preschool teachers should be increased using local budgets — Ministry of Education
This was stated on television by Deputy Minister of Education and Science Anastasia Konovalova, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.
“The salaries of teachers and teaching staff in kindergartens are financed from local budgets. Therefore, it is important that salary increases for teachers are financed from local budgets,” Konovalova said.
At the same time, she noted that after the increase in teachers' salaries, local budget revenues will also increase, as part of the tax on individuals' wages is returned to regional budgets. According to the deputy minister, this “fully or largely covers the increase in salaries for teachers.”
“Therefore, we are very optimistic that local budgets will be able to afford this increase and that teachers' salaries will indeed increase from January 1,” Konovalova said.
As reported by Ukrinform, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine made a decision to increase the salaries of teaching staff by 30% from January 2026 and by a further 20% from September.
