Due to the Kakhovka HPP dam blast, the plant’s engine room, which contained 450 tonnes of fuel oil, was also destroyed, and 150 tonnes of technical fuel oil spilled into the Dnipro River.

Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko said this during the nationwide news telethon, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"After the foundation of the Kakhovka HPP dam was blown, the engine room was also destroyed. There were 450 tonnes of technical fuel oil in this engine room. And 150 tonnes have already gotten into the Dnipro River today, and are moving at great speed through Kherson and further down. Therefore, the relevant services are also working (on liquidation of the aftermath - ed.) - both the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in particular, and the State Emergency Service," the minister said.

Klymenko noted that for this purpose, a special group of experts with appropriate equipment left Kyiv to eliminate the aftermath of the disaster in a timely manner.

The minister assured that the enemy shelling would in no way affect the evacuation conducted by the State Emergency Service and the National Police.

According to him, President Volodymyr Zelensky has already held a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council and set the relevant tasks.

As reported, on the night of June 6, the Russian army blew up the Kakhovka HPP dam. In Kherson region, the evacuation of the population from dangerous places, which are at risk of flooding due to the Kakhovka HPP blast, has begun.

Law enforcers have initiated an investigation under the article "ecocide" after the occupiers blew up the Kakhovka HPP.

Ukrhydroenergo, Ukraine's state hydro power generating company, stated that the Kakhovka HPP had been totally destroyed and cannot be restored.
