Mejlis submits documents on legal status of representative of Crimean Tatar people

The Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People submitted documents to establish its legal status as a representative body of the Crimean Tatar people.

"On June 5, 2023, the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People submitted the first package of documents to the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience in order to establish the legal status of the Mejlis as a representative body of the Crimean Tatar people," Eskender Bariyev, head of the board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, posted on Facebook.

According to him, the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People will finally be defined as a representative body of the Crimean Tatar people in the legal field of Ukraine.

As reported, during Russia's illegal ban on the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, about 30 of its members have been oppressed.
