In Lviv, specialists of the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) are training doctors to use ultrasound diagnostics when providing care to patients in critical conditions and will also donate 92 ultrasound machines as humanitarian aid.

"This is a very important event for the medical community. We have been preparing for it since last autumn. Nine leading specialists from the USA agreed to fly to Ukraine to train 180 of our doctors. In particular, combat medics came for training from the areas of active military operations. The acquired knowledge will help our specialists save lives more effectively on the battlefield and in intensive care units," Deputy Minister of Health Serhiy Dubrov emphasized, the press service of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine reports.

It is noted that the purpose of the training is to prepare Ukrainian intensive care and critical care medicine doctors, in particular combat medics, to use ultrasound diagnostics when providing care to patients in critical conditions — bleeding, mine blast injuries, polytrauma, etc.

The mission will last from March 17 to 24, and the American colleagues will conduct three basic courses and one enhanced one. In addition, SCCM will provide Ukraine with 92 portable ultrasound machines as humanitarian aid.

The course is organized by the Association of Anesthesiologists of Ukraine and the First Lviv Medical Association. The training course takes place with the support of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. The course is financed by the largest benefactor of Ukrainian medicine, Direct Relief U.S. humanitarian charity.
