Ukraine sees number of divorces down almost 50% in first half of 2022

In Ukraine, in the first six months of this year, almost 104,000 couples got married and 7,600 divorces were registered.

That’s according to an update by the Ministry of Justice, Ukrinform reports.

"Almost half as many divorces and even more marriages than last year were registered in the first half of 2022. In the first half of 2022, authorities compiled 103,903 records of marriage and 7,632 records of divorce," the statement reads.

According to the Ministry of Justice, over the same period in 2021, a total of 85,960 marriages and 13,153 divorces were registered.

As Ukrinform reported in April, the Ministry of Justice simplified the registration of marriage under martial law, thanks to which applicants are allowed to submit paperwork and formalize marriage relations within 24 hours.

Materials marked as "Advertisement" or with a disclaimer reading "The material has been posted in accordance with Part 3 of Article 9 of the Law of Ukraine "On Advertising" No. 270/96-VR of July 3, 1996 and the Law of Ukraine "On the Media" No. 2849-Х of March 31, 2023 and on the basis of an agreement/invoice.
