Ukraine, Azerbaijan agree to hold tourism forums twice a year

From next year, Ukraine and Azerbaijan will hold annual tourism forums twice a year in key tourism cities of both countries.

As Ukrinform reports with reference to the press service of the Embassy of Ukraine in Azerbaijan, the agreement was reached during the first joint meeting of the Ukraine-Azerbaijan working group on tourism cooperation via web conference.

"The meeting participants agreed on holding annual tourism forums twice a year in key tourism centers. The first Ukraine-Azerbaijan tourism forum is expected to take place via videoconference in 2021, followed by an offline forum in Kyiv or Baku. In the future, tourist forums are expected to be held twice a year in prominent tourist centers of both countries," the statement reads.

An important emphasis at the working group meeting was placed on the development of cooperation between the regions of Ukraine and Azerbaijan.

In particular, Lviv region, in addition to traditional recreational services, presented targeted proposals for rehabilitation of coronavirus survivors. At the same time, the leadership of the Association of Hotels of Azerbaijan presented the potential of medical and health tourism of Azerbaijani resorts in the cities of Naftalan, Nakhchivan and Lankaran.

Representatives of the Odesa Regional State Administration and the Kharkiv City Council presented the key areas of cooperation with Azerbaijan.

The working group on tourism cooperation operates within the Joint Ukraine-Azerbaijan Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.
