SOF presented with icon of patron saint, Saint Ilia Muromets of Kyiv-Pechersk
According to Ukrinform, the Special Operations Forces (SOF) reported this on Telegram.
Ilia Muromets was a real historical figure, not a mythical or fictional character, who lived in the 12th century on Ukrainian soil. He initially served as a warrior in the prince's army, was nicknamed Chobotok, and became famous for his great strength and feats. The examination of Ilya's bones and remains revealed traces of numerous wounds, including those from a spear.
After his service, Ilia Muromets became a monk at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, where he spent the rest of his life in prayer. In 1643, he was canonized as a saint of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

The Special Operations Forces soldiers assured that with determination, confidence, faith, and divine protection, they would continue to carry out combat missions to protect the Ukrainian people, Ukrainian statehood, and Ukraine.
The event took place as part of the “Military Icon” project with the support of the Antony and Theodosius Pechersky Foundation. The icon was painted by Serhiy Herasymenko, a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
As reported by Ukrinform, on the Day of Defenders of Ukraine, a unique project to revive the traditional Ukrainian military icon was solemnly presented at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve.
