Kremlin: Process of mutual release of prisoners cannot be quick

Ukrinform
The process of mutual release of prisoners by Russia and Ukraine cannot be quick and its preparation cannot be open and public.

The corresponding statement was made by Dmitry Peskov, Russian President Vladimir Putin's press secretary, RBC Russian news agency reports.

Peskov noted that the Russian side "is ready" for the mutual release of prisoners, while the Ukrainian side, in his opinion, "has the understanding of the need to move forward in this issue."

The Kremlin’s press secretary believes that bilateral work is required "which cannot be open and public."

"Therefore, we should arm ourselves with patience," Peskov summed up.

On June 20, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the process of prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine should be "comprehensive" and also confirmed that he was thinking of the possibility to exchange Ukrainian political prisoner Oleg Sentsov for editor-in-chief of the RIA Novosti-Ukraine Kyryl Vyshynsky.

The last major release of prisoners took place on December 27, 2017.
