Two teenage girls have been brought back from temporarily occupied territories, where they had been forced to attend Russian schools.

The news was shared on Telegram by Andriy Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, as reported by Ukrinform.

“As part of President Zelensky's Bring Kids Back UA initiative, we successfully rescued two teenage girls. They had spent three years living under occupation, enduring threats, the constant risk of searches, and pressure to attend Russian schools. Despite these challenges, the girls preserved their Ukrainian identity. They continued their education online through Ukrainian schools, avoided participating in forced ‘patriotic’ events, and fought every day for the right to be themselves,” Yermak said.

He added that the girls are now safe, reunited with their families, and receiving support and care.

As earlier reported by Ukrinform, by the end of July, Ukraine had successfully returned 1,458 children from Russia.
