3.2 million people in Donetsk and Luhansk regions have limited access to drinking water and electrivity supply.

“The repeated shelling of critical water, sanitation, electrical and heating infrastructure is threatening access to safe drinking water for 3.2 million people in Donetsk and Luhansk regions. In 2018, 89 incidents on WASH facilities by shelling and shooting were reported, resulting with nine staff workers injured. In 2016 and 2017 no such cases were recorded. Last year, a significant increase in a number of incidents affecting the workers and water infrastructure was documented,” the UNICEF Ukraine reports.

As reported, about 500,000 children are in urgent need of protection and humanitarian assistance, including quality health care and psychosocial support, because of the military hostilities in Donbas.
