Zelensky presents state awards, Ukrinform journalist Takashi Hirano among recipients
The head of state announced this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
"Today, we are presenting state awards to our volunteers, doctors, educators, scientists, cultural figures, athletes, and journalists – the people who truly care, who give their all, and on whom depends what will happen to Ukraine, to our independence, and to our ability to remain a sovereign and strong state," Zelensky said.

He noted that defending Ukraine and maintaining respect for the country requires the daily strength, activity and courage of Ukrainians. According to him, "every effort matters, every act of support matters, every person matters, and for all of us together – Ukraine matters."
"It is in the interest of our entire nation, of all Ukrainians, and of Ukraine that you, and all our other people who stand in defense of Ukraine, who serve Ukraine, who expand and strengthen our Ukrainian army, Ukrainian society, and Ukrainian culture – so that all our people do not let fatigue get the better of them, remain effective, and enable Ukraine to become even more itself: a strong European state, without which Europe cannot be imagined," Zelensky said, addressing the award recipients.
Last week, Zelensky signed a decree awarding state honors to foreign leaders, officials, volunteers, benefactors, journalists and civil society activists for their significant political and humanitarian support for Ukraine during the full-scale invasion.
Among the awardees was Takashi Hirano, journalist and editor of Ukrinform's Japanese-language edition, who received the Order of Merit, 3rd Class.
