OSCE calls for immediate release of journalist Stanislav Aseev

Ukrinform
OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Harlem Désir expressed deep concern about the continued detention of journalist Stanislav Aseev in eastern Ukraine.

The statement was released on the OSCE website.

“I call on all those responsible to immediately release Stanislav Aseev,” Désir said. “Journalists and other media actors must be free to express their views and carry out their work unhindered.”

As reported, Stanislav  Aseev, who has been writing under the pen name Stanislav Vasin, disappeared on June 2 in the territory controlled by the militants of the "Donetsk People’s Republic". The family and friends of the missing journalist are afraid that he was detained by the so-called authorities of the “DPR” and has been subject to torture and ill-treatment. Since June, there has been no reliable information about his fate and whereabouts.
