In occupied Donetsk region, problems with water supply are expected to cause issues with the operation of thermal power plants and electricity production.

According to Ukrinform, this was stated by the occupying authorities in the “DPR” themselves, explaining the situation on local television, as reported by residents on social media.

For example, Denis Yepifanov, the “Minister of Coal and Energy of the DPR,” said on local television news that in order to ensure the operation of the Zuivska thermal power plant, which provides at least a third of the electricity for the “DPR,” "the technical water level must be 7–8 meters, with a critical mark of 5 meters, while the technical water level is currently at 6.95 meters."

"What could the water shortage lead to? The operation of the pumps creates a vortex, the system becomes aerated, and the Zuivska station stops," says Epifanov.

In other words, following the water collapse, the “republic” is now threatened with an energy collapse.

As reported, according to the decision of the Russian occupation authorities, due to water shortages, in the “DPR,” in the temporarily occupied Donetsk and Makiivka, water will be supplied to residential buildings only once every three days, and in Khartsyzsk, Ilovaisk, Mariupil, and Zuhres — once every two days.

The Zuivska TPP is a thermal power plant located 40 km east of Donetsk. Since 2014, it has been under the control of the self-proclaimed “Donetsk People's Republic.”
