Zelensky: U.S. to lead monitoring of future ceasefire
The Ukrainian President said this while speaking to journalists, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
“On the military track, specifically within the military subgroup, I believe there is constructive progress. All three sides have acknowledged that if the war ends and a ceasefire is established, monitoring of the ceasefire will be carried out primarily by the Americans. They will take the lead in this area,” Zelensky said.
According to him, this is a very important outcome brought back by the Ukrainian delegation from Geneva talks.
As reported, following the negotiations in Geneva, Volodymyr Zelensky stated that there has been progress on military issues – namely ceasefire monitoring – while positions on political issues, including territories, the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, and other sensitive matters, remain divergent.
