During the negotiations in Geneva, a separate meeting was held between the head of the Ukrainian delegation, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov, and delegation member, Member of Parliament Davyd Arakhamia, with the head of the Russian delegation, Vladimir Medinsky.

Umerov's press secretary, Diana Davitian, confirmed this to journalists, noting that such a format of talks is common practice, Ukrinform reports.

"This is a standard format that was also practiced, in particular, in Istanbul, when heads of delegations can hold a meeting in a narrow format while involving other representatives of the delegation. In Istanbul, for example, there were also short meetings held only at the level of delegation heads, but Rustem [Umerov] also involved Skibitskyi and military representatives. This time, David [Arakhamia] was also present because they were all working within the political group. The other part of the delegation had already left at that moment," Davitian said in response to journalists' request to comment on Medinsky's statement that he had held an additional meeting with Umerov and Arakhamia after the conclusion of the negotiations.

According to her, the same issues were discussed during this meeting as during the main talks. She emphasized that the delegation reports everything to Volodymyr Zelensky, and that all members of the delegation also discuss all issues among themselves.

As Ukrinform previously reported, President Zelensky stated following the talks in Geneva that there had been progress on military issues, namely monitoring the ceasefire, while on political issues – territories, the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, and other sensitive matters – the positions of the parties remain different.
