Zelensky sets condition for meeting with Trump in Davos
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said this while speaking with journalists in response to a question about the possibility of meeting U.S. President Donald Trump in Davos and the status of negotiations on security guarantees, Ukrinform reports.
"Certainly, meetings with America must always end with specifics, specific results for strengthening Ukraine or advancing the end of the war. If I go – I'm confident our teams are discussing this – then the meeting will take place, and we will always have meetings with some results. And if the documents are ready, then we will meet," he said.
Commenting on the possibility of meeting with Trump, Zelensky noted that no final decision has been made yet, as he has another coordination call scheduled and is awaiting the results of tasks that were set.
"The relevant tasks have been set. I don't want to wait days or weeks – I want to check how the tasks regarding heating and energy in several regions have been carried out. And so, for now, I will stay in Kyiv," he said.
Zelensky also said he is not traveling to Davos at present and will remain in Ukraine due to Russian missile and drone attacks, but he is ready to go if certain documents for signing or for a meeting on air defense system deliveries are prepared.
