Zelensky orders intelligence to monitor Russia-China cooperation more closely
According to Ukrinform, the head of state announced this on Facebook.
"A report from the Head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, Oleh Ivashchenko. There were many details regarding the foreign policy situation surrounding Ukraine and the economic situation in Russia – specifically, the dependence of its companies and state system on Chinese investment, technologies, and political priorities," Zelensky wrote.
He said that Ukraine is "tracking a growing trend of the de-sovereignization of parts of Russian territory in China's favor – primarily through the use of resource-rich land and the sale of scarce resources to China."
"We also note that China is taking steps to intensify cooperation with Russia, including in the military-industrial sector. Partner intelligence services have similar information," Zelensky said.
The head of state instructed the Foreign Intelligence Service to monitor cooperation between Moscow and Beijing more substantively – in all aspects related to Ukraine's national interests, as well as in all aspects related to the interests of its partners in Europe and the United States.
Zelensky said that "global security must not be undermined because Russia's appetite for aggression remains unabated."
Ivashchenko also reported on political campaigns being launched by Russia, including those aimed at destabilizing Ukraine.
"We will counter and block the activities of all actors who assist the enemy," Zelensky said.
He added that both sides also discussed the work of the Foreign Intelligence Service to help return Ukrainian children and facilitate prisoner exchanges.
