Zelensky, Costa hold talks ahead of special EU leaders’ meeting on Ukraine peace plan

Costa reported this on the social network X, according to Ukrinform.

“Spoke with President Volodymyr Zelensky ahead of this morning’s informal EU leaders’ meeting on Ukraine peace efforts, to get his assessment of the situation,” Costa informed.

According to him, a united and coordinated EU position is essential to ensuring a successful outcome of peace negotiations — both for Ukraine and for Europe.

As Ukrinform reported, European Council President António Costa earlier stated that he had invited leaders of all 27 EU member states to a special meeting on Ukraine on Monday, November 24, in Luanda, the capital of Angola, held within the EU–African Union summit.

On Saturday, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer discussed the U.S. plan for Ukraine on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Johannesburg.

On November 23, representatives of the United States and Ukraine met in Geneva to discuss the U.S. peace proposal. Ukraine and the United States released a joint statement following the delegations’ talks.
