FM Sybiha outlines two factors that would force Putin to halt war

Minister of the Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha has urged partners to shift from the approach of supporting Ukraine “for as long as it takes” to supporting it “as strong as it gets.”

According to Ukrinform, Sybiha wrote this on the social network X.

He said that at this stage of the war, it is crucial to achieve two goals: to abandon one’s own illusions and to deprive the enemy of theirs.

“Putin will have to stop this war when two factors are in place: he won’t have the illusion that he can somehow eventually win on the battlefield; the price of continuing the war for him and his regime will exceed the price of stopping it,” Sybiha emphasized.

He stressed that the international community has sufficient means to force Russia to end the war.

“What we need is a turn from ‘as long as it takes’ to ‘as strong as it gets’,” the minister wrote.

He also called on partners to finance drone production in Ukraine.

“The modern arms race is not about nukes — it is about millions of cheap drones. Those who can scale up production quicker will secure peace,” Sybiha noted.

According to the minister, this requires rapid and adequate funding for Ukraine’s defense industry, which he described as currently the world’s largest source of defense innovation. “We can produce up to 20 million drones next year if we get sufficient funding,” he added.

Sybiha stressed that Ukraine is engaged in “a race against time, both in resources and technology.”

“We need to achieve parity and advantage to make Putin stop the war,” the minister concluded.
