Another country to assist Ukraine in cybersecurity

Finland has joined the Tallinn Mechanism, which provides support for strengthening Ukraine’s cybersecurity and resilience.

This was reported on the website of the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Ukrinform reports.

“By joining the Tallinn Mechanism, Finland will assist Ukraine in protecting against cyber threats,” the Foreign Ministry stated.

The ministry emphasized that this step will reinforce Finland’s international standing as an active and reliable partner in the fields of cyber diplomacy and cybersecurity, while also creating new opportunities for Finnish companies specializing in cybersecurity to cooperate with Ukraine.

The Finnish MFA noted that Russia, during the course of the war, has repeatedly carried out attacks on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure, essential for the functioning of society and public administration. This has increased the need for assistance in protecting state governance systems and critical infrastructure, as well as in developing preparedness based on Ukraine’s specific needs.

As reported, the Tallinn Mechanism was established in 2023. Within its framework, dozens of initiatives have already been implemented — from cybersecurity assessments and training programs to equipment deliveries supporting Ukraine’s digital connectivity and resilience.

Countries that have already joined the initiative include the United Kingdom, Denmark, Estonia, Italy, Canada, the Netherlands, Germany, Norway, Poland, the United States, France, and Sweden.

The European Union, NATO, and the World Bank participate as official observers.
