Polish president's signing of aid law for Ukrainians ends legal uncertainty – ambassador

Ukraine's Ambassador to Poland, Vasyl Bodnar, stated this in a comment to Ukrinform.

"This law puts an end to the legal uncertainty regarding the residence status of Ukrainian citizens in the Republic of Poland and effectively resolves the concerns that have troubled tens of thousands of Ukrainians in recent weeks. We thank Poland for its constructive approach and for addressing such a sensitive and important issue for many Ukrainians living in Poland," Bodnar said.

Nawrocki signed the law on aid for Ukrainians affected by the war on his second attempt. He had vetoed the previous wording at the end of August.

Nawrocki justified his veto by arguing, in particular, that social benefits under the 800+ program should only be granted to Ukrainians who are employed in Poland.
