The Verkhovna Rada has ratified the One Hundred Year Partnership Agreement between Ukraine and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

According to a Ukrinform correspondent, the legislative initiative No. 0332 was adopted with 295 votes.

The explanatory note states that ratification will complete all domestic procedures and launch a 100-year partnership aimed at strengthening cooperation in defense, security, trade and economy, energy, education, science, culture, social and migration policy, as well as justice and information security.

The Agreement enters into force upon receipt by both parties of the final notification confirming completion of their internal procedures. The document provides for enhanced military cooperation in maritime security through the establishment of a new structure to reinforce security in the Baltic, Black, and Azov Seas and to deter Russian aggression. It will also unite experts to advance cooperation in healthcare, agrotechnologies, space, and unmanned technologies, while fostering educational projects.

In addition, the Agreement designates the United Kingdom as Ukraine’s priority partner in the energy sector, extraction of critical minerals, and production of green steel. At Ukraine’s request, Britain has also developed a new scheme for tracking stolen grain from territories occupied by Russia. A special database has been created, which will be handed over to Ukraine by the UK Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
