The foreign ministers of Ukraine and Great Britain, Andrii Sybiha and David Lammy, discussed the current situation on the battlefield and agreed on their positions ahead of important international events, in particular the NATO summit in The Hague.

The head of Ukrainian diplomacy wrote about this on social network X, Ukrinform reports.

“I expressed gratitude for the UK's further expansion of sanctions against Russia, which Prime Minister Starmer announced at the G7 summit this week, including Putin's ‘shadow fleet’,” Sybiha wrote.

He said that the substantive conversation with his British counterpart concerned the next steps to increase pressure on Moscow.

Sybiha stressed the need to provide Ukraine with additional air defense systems to protect our peaceful cities and critical infrastructure from Russian attacks.

The diplomat added that during the conversation, further specific decisions were discussed on strengthening Ukraine and increasing pressure on Russia to end the war against Ukraine and achieve a just and lasting peace.

“I appreciate the principled leadership of the United Kingdom and its unwavering support for Ukraine,” the head of Ukraine's foreign ministry emphasized.

As reported by Ukrinform, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is not sure about his own trip to the NATO summit, but said that Ukraine will definitely be represented at the event.
