European integration, ‘transport visa-free regime,’ frozen Russian assets: Shmyhal meets with Metsola
The Prime Minister shared details of the meeting on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
"I met with European Parliament President Roberta Metsola during my visit to Brussels. We discussed key initiatives for Ukraine. Specifically, I urged the European Parliament to support the extension of the ‘transport visa-free regime,’ enabling freight transportation to operate without requiring special permits. Additionally, we addressed Ukraine's efforts to establish a just and lasting peace, its European integration, and the confiscation of frozen Russian assets," Shmyhal wrote.

He expressed gratitude to the European Parliament for swiftly approving the Credit Cooperation Mechanism for Ukraine, which allocates macro-financial assistance derived from immobilized Russian sovereign assets. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to confiscate all Russian assets and creating an international compensation mechanism to ensure the aggressor nation reimburses Ukraine for the damages inflicted
"The enemy continues to reject all proposals for a truce, remaining resolute in continuing the war. Russia's strike on Kryvyi Rih, which claimed the lives of nine children, is yet another evidence of the aggressor's cruelty. We expect the European Union to use all its diplomatic and sanctions measures to maintain pressure on Russia and force it to peace," Shmyhal stressed.

As reported, the 10th EU-Ukraine Association Council meeting took place in Brussels on April 9, chaired by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas. Ukraine's delegation at the meeting was led by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
During the session, the two sides signed five intergovernmental agreements designed to enhance economic cooperation between Ukraine and the EU while expediting Ukraine's recovery process.
