Sikorski travels to U.S. to talk about Ukraine

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski has left for the United States to attend a meeting of the Security Council and the UN General Assembly. The issue of Ukraine will be a primary focus in his speeches and conversations.

This was stated by Paweł Wroński, the spokesman for the Polish Foreign Ministry, in a comment to Ukrinform.

The Polish diplomat said that Sikorski is scheduled to meet with representatives of American think tanks in the United States and will also participate in a meeting of the Security Council and the UN General Assembly in New York. Additionally, he is expected to meet in Washington with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, although the specific time for this meeting is yet to be confirmed.

“The speech at the UN will take place on the next anniversary of Russian aggression against Ukraine. This will be a speech not only on behalf of Poland. The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy has authorized Mr. Minister to speak on behalf of the entire European Union. Therefore, Ukraine's case will be the most important one,” Wroński said.

He added that the issue of Ukraine will also be “in the center of attention” during the expected conversation between Sikorski and Rubio.

As reported, Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha discussed ways to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting peace with U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine and Russia Keith Kellogg.
