Japanese foreign minister emphasizes importance of achieving just peace for Ukraine
According to an Ukrinform correspondent, he made this statement during a panel discussion at the Munich Security Conference.
Iwaya noted that Russia's invasion of Ukraine had significantly impacted the international order, particularly in the Asian region.
When asked about his views on the U.S. President Donald Trump administration's approach to the war, he said that while the beginning of the process was clear, what truly mattered was achieving the right conclusion.
He said that it was still too early to draw definitive conclusions and that extensive exchanges of views would continue.
Iwaya stated that a just and lasting peace must be established in Ukraine, adding that the international community should work to steer Russia in that direction. He added that allowing Russia to emerge as the victor was something that should not happen.
According to the minister, the situation had already had a profound impact on one of the key regional issues related to Taiwan.
He said that relations between China and Taiwan should be resolved peacefully through dialogue.
