Paris hosting Weimar+ meeting to support Ukraine

French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot outlined the format and goals of the meeting before it began, as reported by a Ukrinform correspondent.

"This summit, ahead of the Munich Security Conference, will coordinate our messages and demonstrate both unity and the will to act because Europeans know that their future and security are at stake," he said.

Barrot also added that the discussion between Europeans, together with the British and Ukrainians, is not a coincidence, as it follows a meeting of heads of state and government that took place a few days ago in Brussels.

"In a few days, we will have the sad third anniversary of the beginning of Russia's full-scale aggression in Ukraine, and at this time, the U.S. Administration is also thinking about its position on this issue," he added.

In addition to the foreign ministers of France, Poland, Germany, Italy, and Spain, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, and Andrius Kubilius, the European Commissioner responsible for defense and space, are expected to attend the meeting.

The expanded format of the discussion will also include Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and British Foreign Secretary David Lemmy.
