Lavrov, Nebenzya contradict each other on Kyiv children’s hospital shelling
Sergiy Kyslytsya, Ukraine's Ambassador to the UN, drew attention to this while speaking with an Ukrinform correspondent.
Nebenzya claimed that a Ukrainian missile hit the Okhmatdyt but Lavrov admitted that it was a Russian one that was allegedly shot down by Ukraine’s air defense.
At the Security Council meeting on July 9, the Russian ambassador said that on the videos posted by Ukrainian netizens it can be seen that a lone air defense missile of Ukraine arrives in the area of the children's hospital without any damage or obstacles, and that it is impossible to confuse it with anything due to its characteristic fin assembly, which is clearly seen, as well as other features."
Lavrov went against the words of his subordinate at a press conference at the UN headquarters on Wednesday.
He said that, when Russia hit “military and energy infrastructure” related to the military bloc, one of thee missiles was shot down by the Ukrainian air defense system and that the debris fell on a children's hospital in Kyiv.
Commenting on these inconsistencies, Kyslytsya noted on X that as early as February 2022, at meetings of the Security Council, he "advised nebenzya to call his boss in Moscow more often and check his lies in New York with him."
"This time, lavrov's version that it was the Russian missile and its fragments that hit Okhmatdyt, voiced by him at the press conference at the UN on July 17, failed to coincide with nebenzya’s babbling on July 9 at the UN Security Council meeting," Kyslytsya wrote, adding: "So, what about the ‘easily recognizable rocket fin assembly’”?
As Ukrinform reported earlier, as a result of Russian shelling targeting Kyiv July 8, children's hospital Okhmatdyt, the Adonis clinic, a residential buildings in Shevchenkivskyi and Holosiivskyi districts, and a business center on Ushinska in Solomianskyi district were hit.
Lavrov is on July 16-17 at the UN headquarters, taking advantage of the fact that Russia this month chairs the UN Security Council.
