Zelensky, Biden consider further expansion of defense cooperation

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has held a phone conversation with United States President Joseph Biden. The parties discussed further defense cooperation with an emphasis on long-range weapons.

The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“I spoke with United States President Joseph Biden. A positive and inspiring conversation. We discussed the course of hostilities and the processes taking place in Russia. The world must put pressure on Russia until international order is restored,” Zelensky wrote.

The Head of State thanked President Biden for the unflagging support of Ukraine, especially for the Patriot surface-to-air missile systems.

The President of Ukraine emphasized the importance of further increasing the country’s capabilities to protect its skies. In this regard, Zelensky thanked Biden for the support of the fighter jet coalition.

Additionally, the two leaders discussed further expansion of defense cooperation, with an emphasis on long-range weapons.

“I am grateful for the readiness of the United States and the American people to stand side by side with Ukraine until the full liberation of all our territories within internationally recognized borders,” Zelensky noted.

Zelensky and Biden also coordinated their positions on the eve of the NATO Summit in Vilnius, and discussed further work on the implementation of Ukraine’s Peace Formula and preparations for the Global Peace Summit.
