The state visit to China by Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko, who is considered extremely loyal to the Kremlin, is an additional confirmation of how the leadership in Beijing is trying to deepen its contacts with Russia against the background of the brutal war the latter is waging against Ukraine.

U.S. State Department spokesman Ned Price said this at a briefing in Washington, D.C., on Monday, Ukrinform's own correspondent reports.

“The fact that the PRC is now engaging with Lukashenko, who has in effect ceded his own sovereignty to Russia, is just another element of the PRC's deepening engagements with Russia, with all of those who are engaged with and supporting Russia's brutal war against Ukraine,” Price told reporters.

He also noted that Lukashenko's visit to Beijing only confirms the concerns that the U.S. expressed earlier about the intentions of the Chinese leadership to further deepen ties with Russia.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the self-proclaimed President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, intends to meet with the President of China, Xi Jinping. Institute for the Study of War does not rule out that the visit may be aimed at finding ways for Russia and China to evade sanctions in case of sending lethal aid to Russia.
