First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska has met with Princess of Wales Catherine and thanked the Royal Family of Great Britain for the opportunity to pay her last respects to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on behalf of the Ukrainian people.

The relevant statement was made by First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

The wife of the President of Ukraine mentioned that, as Russia started a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Princess of Wales Catherine and her husband immediately showed their support for Ukraine, having visited the Ukrainian Cultural Centre, which became a volunteer hub and provided assistance to Ukrainian refugees.

“On the mournful day of the public farewell ceremony for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, I had a warm, pleasant conversation with the Princess of Wales. I am deeply grateful for the reception of a large number of our people and the personal attention of Her Royal Highness to them. For the unprecedented support of Great Britain in our fight against the invader: military, humanitarian, political,” Zelenska stressed.

The First Lady of Ukraine expressed her deepest condolences to the Royal Family over their loss.

A reminder that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II died at the age of 96 on September 8, 2022.
