The decision to send a Siemens turbine for Nord Stream 1 to Germany is a big mistake and Ukraine will make every effort to ensure that it does not have consequences and does not set a precedent.

Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba said during a nationwide telethon on Ukrainian TV channels, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"As for Canada’s case, a risk of setting a precedent exists. We believe that this is a big mistake – the decision approved by Canada. Now everyone assures us that there will be no precedent, that this is an exception and it will not have any further consequences," he said.

"But we understand how everything works, so we will make every effort to ensure that this particular case does not become a reason for others to do similar things," the minister said.

Kuleba also noted that now there are no signs that the current sanctions regime of the European Union, the United States, or other countries would be weakened.

As reported, Canada decided to return to Germany a gas turbine repaired in Canada by Siemens Energy AG, which was used in the Nord Stream pipeline system. The decision was made despite objections from the government of Ukraine and the large Ukrainian diaspora in Canada, who stressed that returning the turbine would undermine the sanctions regime.
