Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has invited Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban to visit Ukraine in 2022, the presidential press service has said.

On Friday, Zelensky had a phone call with Orban on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the report said.

Zelensky said it was a symbolic date for Ukraine and Ukrainian-Hungarian relations.

"Today marks the 30th anniversary of Hungary being the third country to recognize Ukraine's independence and the first country with which we established diplomatic relations. We will always remember this expression of solidarity and support for Ukraine," Zelensky said.

He noted Ukraine's commitment to developing good neighborly relations with Hungary on the basis of mutual respect and constructive dialogue.

"We are ready to work together to realize the potential of our relations for the benefit of the peoples of Ukraine and Hungary," Zelensky said.

"When Ukrainians and Hungarians are together, everyone will win," he added.

Zelensky thanked Orban for Hungary's support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, noting, the Hungarian president's participation in the inaugural summit of the Crimea Platform.

Both parties also discussed further steps on the development of bilateral cooperation and agreed to intensify efforts to make progress on all issues that are currently on the agenda.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba met with his Hungarian counterpart Peter Szijjarto on the sidelines of a NATO ministerial meeting in Riga.

They agreed that despite some complex issues in Ukrainian-Hungarian relations, Ukraine's security is also the security of Hungary and the entire eastern flank of NATO.
