MFA Poland: Kremlin can be stopped by strong political signals

The West can influence the situation and stop aggressive scenarios with strong political signals.

That’s according to Poland’s Deputy Foreign Minister Marcin Przydacz who spoke in an interview with Ukrinform.

According to the senior diplomat, Ukrainians can count on political support from Poland in the context of Russia's aggressive actions.

He said that all movements in and around Ukraine, military maneuvers, and destabilizing activity pursued by Russia are being watched with concern in Warsaw. In this regard, Poland coordinates its actions within the EU and NATO.

"I have the impression that today we can still influence the situation with strong political signals to change Russia's negative decisions or scenarios. It is important that not only Ukraine but also the West is ready to send this signal to Moscow and effectively counter any aggressive actions on the part of the Kremlin,” Poland’s deputy foreign minister stressed.

Separately, Przydacz noted he did not consider the crisis on the border between Belarus and the EU an element of distraction from what is happening along Russia’s border with Ukraine.

"In my opinion, this is a well-coordinated operation targeting both Ukraine and the West. I hope that the West will react to this properly – as Poland is," said the Polish diplomat.

As reported earlier, Russia pulled a massive number of troops and military hardware to the borders with Ukraine.

At the same time, hundreds of migrants, mostly from the Middle East, have been trying to illegally cross into Poland from Belarus where they had arrived in large groups. Warsaw emphasizes that these are well-coordinated joint hybrid actions by Minsk and Moscow, aimed against Poland and the EU as a whole.
