Mejlis activist suggests creating Crimea’s government in exile

Ibrahim Suleymanov, a  Crimean Tatar activist, chairman of the Kherson city Mejlis, believes that it is necessary to reconsider the structure of institutions in charge of Crimea, by creating the government of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea in exile.

"Perhaps, we need to reconsider the structure of institutions in charge of Crimea. In my opinion, these institutions that exist today are not enough to effectively see the whole picture of what is happening in Crimea, to systematize information," Suleymanov said during a round table meeting in the Kherson Regional State Administration on March 2, organized on the occasion of the Day of Resistance to the Occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.

He reminded of the idea to create a government of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea in exile in order to systematize all the problems related to Crimea and to solve them collectively. In particular, there are healthcare problems in Crimea (in particular, concerning COVID-19 vaccination), as well as environmental ones.

Suleymanov expressed support for the Crimean Platform as a tool to address the issues related to de-occupation.

As reported, leader of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Dzhemilev said earlier that U.S. President Joe Biden was likely to take part in the inaugural summit of the Crimean Platform, which will take place in Kyiv on August 23.
