Ukraine opens first honorary consulate in Azerbaijan

"The opening of the first honorary consulate of Ukraine in Azerbaijan is evidence of the high dynamics of cooperation between the two countries and creates favorable conditions for the further expansion of trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian and regional ties between our countries," the statement reads.

During the ceremony, Ukraine's Ambassador to Azerbaijan Vladyslav Kanevskyi handed the newly appointed Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Shamakhi, Mehrali Gasimov, a consular commission and an official certificate. The parties signed an agreement on the functions and responsibilities of Ukraine's honorary consul in Shamakhi.

The consular district of the honorary consul of Ukraine in the city of Shamakhi will cover the Agdash, Agsu, Qobustan, Goychay, Ismailli and Shamakhi districts of the country.

Gasimov is a graduate of the Kyiv Institute of International Relations. He held various positions at international companies SAP and DeGolyer & MacNaughton Corporation. He is a private entrepreneur.
