National flag solemnly raised in Kyiv. Video

The ceremony was held with the participation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

The national flag raising ceremony was accompanied by the Ukrainian hymn performed by a military band, and volleys. Government members, officials and other guests also took part in the celebration. In addition, the event was attended by veterans-defenders of Ukraine, servicepersons of various military branches.

After raising the flag, the Ukrainian president awarded honorary names to a number of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard and the State Border Service.

A reminder that Ukraine annually celebrates the National Flag Day on August 23.
