A European Parliament report on the state of implementation of the Association Agreement with Ukraine testifies to steadfast support for Ukraine in its struggle for a European choice and the result of an unprecedented level of relations between Ukraine and the EU, President Petro Poroshenko has reported on Facebook.

"I consider this position of the European Parliament to be a sign of strong support for Ukraine in the ongoing struggle of our people for their European choice and the result of an unprecedented level of relations between Ukraine and the EU," he said, while welcoming the adoption by the European Parliament of a resolution on the implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement.

Poroshenko thanked MEPs for recognizing Ukraine's significant progress on the path to European integration reforms since the Revolution of Dignity, with their number, he said, being larger than during all previous years of independence.

The head of state emphasized that an extremely important thing in the report is a signal about recognition of the prospect for Ukraine's membership in the EU "in accordance with Article 49 of the EU Treaty" and confirmation of a "firm position" of the European Parliament in support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine "with a strong and categorical condemnation of Russian aggression against our state, in particular the recent act of aggression in the Kerch Strait."

The European Parliament on December 12 adopted a resolution on the state of the implementation of the Association Agreement with Ukraine. The document positively evaluates the progress of reforms defined in the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement in the context of Russian aggression, while indicating areas where efforts need to be strengthened.
