The situation around the settlement of the conflict provoked by Russia in Ukraine was discussed at the OSCE Ministerial Council meeting in Milan.

"The parties should get out of the political deadlock and work on the full implementation of the Minsk agreements, the obligations under which they assumed. Actually, a deadlock on the crisis in and around Ukraine defined the atmosphere that prevailed here in Milan. However, despite the lack of trust, even at this time, the member states laid the foundations for new decisions and declarations," OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger  said at a press conference in Milan, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

Greminger recalled that he and the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office had made a statement calling for restraint and dialogue to de-escalate the situation immediately after the recent incident with the Russian attack on Ukrainian ships in the Kerch Strait. “I also conveyed this message to Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov during our meeting in Milan. We also call for renewed efforts to settle the conflict in and around Ukraine,” the OSCE Secretary General said.
