This was discussed during the meeting of First Vice Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Iryna Gerashchenko with Deputy Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of State George Kent, Gerashchenko posted on Facebook.
"I and [Ukrainian MP] Maria Ionova met with the new official of the U.S. Department of State [George Kent] and the U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch. We discussed security issues, martial law, the situation around the Ukrainian sailors captured by the Russian Federation, the new ministry of veterans affairs and its action plan, other issues of reforms in Ukraine. However, the key issue is security, the situation in Donbas and Crimea, the release of hostages. We are waiting for the support in these matters from our strategic partner, especially in releasing the sailors and other political prisoners and the hostages of the Kremlin from Russian prisons," Gerashchenko noted.
The First Vice Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament added that U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs George Kent had started his first after the appointment visit to Ukraine with important discussion of the security situation in the Sea of Azov.
