Ambassador Pieklo sees progress in Ukrainian-Polish historical dialogue

Ukrinform
Ambassador of Poland to Ukraine Jan Pieklo believes that there is progress in the Ukrainian-Polish historical dialogue despite attempts of radical forces from Polish and Ukrainian sides to provoke controversy between the nations.

The diplomat said this in comments to Ukrinform on Friday, November 16.

"Yes, there is a progress. People who say that there is no progress do not understand that the dialogue keeps going. There is a commission of historians, there is cooperation between the Institutes of National Remembrance of Poland and Ukraine, and there is opening of Ukrainian archives in Khmelnytsky and Odesa. For Polish historians, this is the best thing that can happen, because we find shocking documents there," Pieklo said.

At the same time, he noted that part of the radical forces from the Polish and Ukrainian sides would like to "do something in order to cause a quarrel between us."

“The political elites in Poland and Ukraine understand that our future is a common Europe and Ukraine’s integration with European structures. This is also a matter of our common security,” the ambassador said.
