Normandy format backs deployment of OSCE police mission in Donbas

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko had a phone conversation in Normandy format after he completed his working visit in Istanbul, Turkey, the press office of the President reports.

Petro Poroshenko focused on the deteriorating security situation, particularly attacks recorded in the area of Avdiyivka town, the Donetsk region that is a real block to progress in peace settlement process.

Participants have agreed that in order to continue political dialogue de-escalation requires decisive and total ceasefire.

President of Ukraine noted that in order to fulfill that condition Russia must withdraw its troops from the occupied part of Ukraine and stop supplying its weapons and mercenaries. He also pointed out the necessity to restore control over the Ukrainian-Russian border.

The leaders of Ukraine, France, Germany and Russia expressed their support for the deployment of the OSCE police mission in Donbas and beginning of early consultation on this issue.
