U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt said that the resignation of Deputy Prosecutor General Vitaliy Kasko would slow down the process of judicial reform in Ukraine.

The Ambassador has twitted on Monday.

"Kasko was a champion for change within the Prosecutor General's Office. His resignation is a blow to Ukraine's reform progress," he wrote.

Pyatt noted that "Ukraine deserves a clean judiciary." He also noted that now in Ukraine should conduct legal reform at all levels "to address pervasive corruption and cronyism."

At the same time Pyatt said that the U.S. will continue to provide assistance to prosecutors who are "committed to operating under new rules."

Earlier, on Monday February 15 Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Vitaliy Kasko announced his resignation.
