I stand more chances to survive in Ukraine - Melnychenko

. Former State Guard Major Mykola Melnychenko has returned to Ukraine because of threats to his life.

He said this to the press on Friday, at the Shevchenkivsky District Court of Kyiv, which is mulling over a preventive measure for the ex-major.

"I have received information that my life is at risk. In Ukraine I have a better chance to survive," Mykola Melnychenko said.

He also said that he would give evidence in the murder of Yevhen Shcherban.

As reported, Melnychenko was arrested on October 24 at Kyiv's airport of Boryspil during passport control upon arrival from New York. The security service accuses him of divulging state secrets, forgery and abuse of power.
