CEC refuses to register Pavlo Lazarenko due to conviction
. The main reason for a refusal to register Pavlo Lazarenko a candidate to people's deputies of Ukraine was his conviction.
CEC member Mykhailo Okhendovsky has said about this, a UKRINFORM's correspondent reports.
“The main reason for refusal to register Pavlo Ivanovych Lazarenko was availability of conviction and a fact of his non-residence on the territory of Ukraine over recent five years,” he said.
Okhendovsky also noted that this fact is proved by information from the General Prosecutor's Office and other competent bodies, as well as by “a decision of the Pechersk district court, which has been taken many years ago and for this reason came into force long ago.”
“According to the norms of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, we have enough reasons to proceed from the fact that this person is convicted and has a criminal record,” Okhendovsky summed up.
To remind, on August 10, the Central Election Commission has officially refused registration to leader of the political party “All-Ukrainian Association Hromada” ex-Prime Minister Pavlo Lazarenko.
