U.S. is not pressuring Ukraine to concede territory – Yermak after meeting with Witkoff
This was stated by Andriy Yermak, the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, during an online meeting with journalists on Friday, as reported by an Ukrinform correspondent.
“It’s very important to immediately put an end to all speculation—no one from the American side is pressuring Ukraine regarding any territories,” Yermak emphasized following his meeting with U.S. Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff.
Yermak also noted that Ukraine remains open to a peace process, including a potential meeting between the leaders of Ukraine, the United States, and Russia.
“Since Istanbul (talks held in Istanbul in May this year – ed.), President Zelensky has consistently stated: ‘I am ready for any format of negotiations, anywhere,’” Yermak stressed.
He added that in recent days, together with National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov and later Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko, he visited several countries, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Switzerland.
“We traveled to many countries that expressed readiness to host such a meeting at any time. In other words, we once again demonstrated that everyone is ready—except Russia,” Yermak said.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, on August 19, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that his administration is working to organize direct negotiations between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin to reach an agreement on ending the war.
